Dashboard
The dashboard contains an overview of your financial situation, including account balances, uncategorized transactions, and monthly spending trends. Some components of the dashboard can be customized.
Customizing the Dashboard
Dashboard Layout
You can modify the size and placement of widgets on the dashboard to your preferences. There are two different layout modes:
- Desktop: This mode allows you to organize widgets in a grid pattern. Widgets can be resized along both horizontally and vertically.
- Mobile: This mode organizes widgets in a single vertical column. Widget widths are fixed to the width of the screen, but can be resized vertically.
While Desktop and Mobile modes share the same set of widgets, the layouts for each mode are configured separately. This was done to allow you to tweak the layout for each mode independently without having to prioritize the layout of one screen size over the other.
If you would like to generate the mobile layout based on the current desktop layout, you can use the Reset to Desktop Order button in the toolbar.
Widgets
Widgets can be added to the dashboard from the Add Widget menu in the Edit Dashboard toolbar.
Once added, widgets can be moved around by dragging the widget and resized by dragging the bottom right corner.
Net Worth Widget
The Net Worth widget can be used to aggregate the balances of multiple accounts or assets to give you a quick overview of your total financial standing. You can add or remove accounts from this widget by clicking the settings icon on the widget itself.
Each line will aggregate values that can be grouped by the following criteria:
- Account Type: Group accounts by their type (e.g., checking, savings, credit card).
- Assets: Group all of your asset values together, or by their type.
- Line Name: Group other line values by their name.
Metrics Widget
The Metrics widget can be used to track a number of different financial metrics, such as total spending for the month, goal progress, budget totals, and more. You can specify the data calculation using the following format:
@source.metric(period, key=value)
There is a detailed syntax reference in the configuration dialog.
Accounts Widget
The accounts widget can be used to display the balances for a selection of accounts. You can select which accounts to include from the widget's configuration dialog.
Uncategorized Transactions Widget
This widget shows transactions that do not have a category assigned.
Spending Trends Widget
This widget shows a line plot of your total spending for the month so far, compared to your spending from the previous month.
This widget only includes transactions that are categorized with expense type categories.
